Sharifah Hardie interviews Steve Bernstein creator of Zenbu Media. Zenbu Media is a multi-media music company with business lines in Print, Digital, Events and Artist services. Zenbu started through the acquisition of Relix, a 35 year old magazine dedicated to the live music scene. Under Steve’s leadership, the publication grew from 1,400 subscribers to over 60,000, with a readership of 300,000. Other properties include: Metal Edge Magazine, Metal Maniacs Magazine, Jambands.com, Relix Records. Zenbu co-produces The Green Apple Festival, the largest Green event in the country. Steve also created the Homeby9 Music Series and Zenbu Artist Management. The digital division has eight websites with over 5mm impressions, 200,000 opt-In email participants as well as an exclusive Relix video channel on V-Cast. Steve is also a co-founder of the Wear Your Music project which collects guitar strings from famous musicians and makes bracelets. Profits from sales go to charity. Steve has been profiled in many publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, Newsday, Publishing Executive, FolioMagazine, Private Air magazine and Celebrityaccess.com.
